The United States has temporarily shut down its embassy in Ukraine due to concerns about a possible Russian attack. The embassy was swiftly closed after receiving intelligence that an airstrike could occur on Wednesday.
This move comes amid heightened tensions following Ukraine's use of US long-range missiles in its attacks on Russia.
On Wednesday, Ukraine launched its first attack on Russian territory using long-range missiles provided by the United States. The strike occurred on the 1000th day of the ongoing war with Russia. Russia has already warned of potential nuclear retaliation if such attacks continue, raising concerns that the conflict in Ukraine could escalate.
The US embassy in Kiev, Ukraine's capital, received specific intelligence indicating a potential airstrike on Wednesday, prompting the embassy to quickly close its doors.
Authorities have stated that the embassy will remain temporarily closed as a precaution, with staff instructed to seek shelter in a safe location. Additionally, the embassy has advised US citizens to be ready to evacuate to a safe area as soon as an airstrike warning is issued.
